No auctioneer is more dedicated to an event than Jim Glines. Jim was raised on a cattle ranch in the Cuyama Valley, California. He attended grammar school and high school in Santa Maria and then graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo with a Bachelors Degree in Farm Management. He also holds a Graduate degree in Banking from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.

Jim is a career banker. He co-founded Community Bank of Santa Maria where he opened the Bank as President and Chief Executive Officer in March, 2001. He continues to serve as Chairman of the Board of Community Bank of Santa Maria today. Jim is a member of the Elks Lodge in Santa Maria, and is past chairman of the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Queen Contest. He is a member of Los Rancheros Visitadores. He was appointed to the Santa Barbara County Fair Board of Directors in 1990 by then Governor George Deukmejian and was later elected President of the Board.

Jim graduated from the World Champion College of Auctioneering in Bakersfield, California and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the California State Auctioneers Association where he served as Treasurer. He was named California State Champion Auctioneer in 2001. Jim was presented the prestigious “Citizen of the Year” award by the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce in August of 2005. The Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538 named Jim their “Citizen of the Year” in May, 2008. Jim was elected to serve on the Board of Pacific Christian School in September, 2010. In 2017, Jim was the Elks Rodeo Parade Grand Marshall. Recently Jim was awarded the ‘Director’s Choice, Person of the Year’ by the Santa Barbara County Fair Board of Directors for 2018.

Jim has been honored to be invited to sell at the New Mexico State Police Sale in Sante Fe, New Mexico with the great team of James Cecil Auctioneers of Hobbs, New Mexico; he has sold for the Simi Valley Education Council at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, and has sold at the Central Coast Wine Classic (formerly the KCBX Wine Classic) for Archie McLaren in San Luis Obispo, California. He has also provided his bid spotting team for the Napa Valley Wine Classic and the Sun Valley Center Wine Auction in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Jim and his wife Kathy reside in Santa Maria and have four children and five grandchildren.
